Crossfit According to Jack

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program. It is designed to bring the broadest adaptational response as possible. This means that instead of doing bicep curls for 5 sets of 10, we do something that will work the whole body. For example wallballs. Wallballs are squatting (with out your knees going past your toes!!!) then jumping up and throwing a 6-20 lb medicine ball up 10ft. This brings us to our next point, scaling. EVERY THING can be scaled. In this case when you first start you will use either a 6 or 10 lb ball.

CrossFit uses high intensity and variation to make it IMPOSSIBLE for you or your body to figure out what’s next. the work out is ALLWAYS different. This makes your body say hey, if I don’t really start building strength i’m going to get my but kicked again, so what happens? You get stronger! And you also feel so much better! To go with this your body needs something to make muscle – see the “Nutrition” tab.

The first time I went to a Crossfit gym, I woke up that morning and was told I was going to work out at  Crossfit Energy, i’m 15 (my dad, Hank is the trainer who got me into all of this stuff). I used the usual excuses, homework, food, tired, don’t want to go period. Finnaly I gave in, i said OK whatever, but only once. So I went and the next day I had an added excuse, “I’m sore”, my dad just laughed and said get up we’re going again. I think I went three days in a row untill the trainer said hey newbes take it easy, take a day or two off and come back for the Saturday “boot camp”. The whole boot camp thing, I never went to the beginner’s boot camp, so if you don’t think you can do the regular boot camp, COME ANYWAYS!!! Most of what you are experiencing is a mental block. The good thing about this, is it is mental, meaning all it takes is a hard workout with a bunch of other people and a trainer barking at you to pick up the weight and do one more rep – over and over. This forces your brain to realize that you CAN do it!

and by the way, cavemen like it too. :)
